Step 1: <\/strong>On the home screen, swipe up and hold to reveal the background app windows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: <\/strong>Swipe right to look at the Messages app window and swipe up to remove it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: <\/strong>Relaunch the app to see if the problem still persists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Mac <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: <\/strong>Click the Apple icon at the top-left corner and select Force Quit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: <\/strong>Select Messages from the list of apps and click on Force Quit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Check if Sound Effects Are Enabled (Mac)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You should check if the sound effects are enabled if iMessage is still not making sound. These steps only apply to Mac users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: <\/strong>Press Command + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, type Messages, <\/em>and press Return. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Disable Silent Mode (iPhone and iPad)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If the text message sound or tone is not working on your iPhone or iPad, you need to disable Silent Mode. You can enable Silent Mode to silence notification sounds. But it can also turn off in-app sound effects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: <\/strong>Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: <\/strong>Tap on Sounds and Haptics. Then, use the volume slider to increase the sound volume. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
